Mixed Relay

The French team with Julia Simon, Lou Jeanmonnot, Eric Perrot and Emilien Jacquelin secured the gold medal with a lead of over a minute despite a crash and a penalty loop. Surprisingly, silver went to the Czech Republic, while Justus Strelow won bronze with the German team, just ahead of Johannes Thingnes Bø of Norway. A successful start to the 2025 Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide in front of 7,500 enthusiastic spectators.

Sprint Women

First Swiss medal within reach. The second day of competition at the Biathlon World Championships brought some fresh snow and windy conditions. In front of around 5,900 spectators, a thrilling women's sprint developed in which the Swiss athlete Lena Häcki-Gross also performed well and could hope for a medal for a long time. Victory went to France's Justin Braisaz-Bouchet, as was also the case at the 2023 World Cup in Lenzerheide.

Sprint Men

Historic World Championship title for J.T. Bø in glorious weather in Lenzerheide. He is now the sole record-holding World Champion. Thanks to perfect shooting, 31-year-old Bø relegated Campbell Wright and Quentin Fillon Maillet to second and third place.

From a Swiss perspective, Sebastian Stalder performed best. With 13th place, the prospects for a successful pursuit competition are promising.

Women Pursuit

Swiss medal within reach until the last shooting. In the end, the experienced German Franziska Preuss won her first World Championship gold in an individual race. Lena Häcki-Gross was in the lead for three laps, but finished fifth in the end.

Men Pursuit

The top duo in the men's pursuit was the same as in the sprint. Johannes Thingnes Bö (NOR) took his 22nd title and the US American Campbell Wright surprised everyone once again, securing the silver medal in the pursuit after the sprint.

Women Individual

Bright blue skies and two more medals for France. Julia Simon took the win ahead of the surprising second, Ella Halvarsson (Sweden) and compatriot Lou Jeanmonnot. 

The Swiss women had no medal hopes.

Men Individual

Swiss men with top result in the sixth day of competition. Niklas Hartweg finished a strong fifth and in the end 16 seconds (or a mistake on the very last shot) made the difference. There was once again great joy for France. Thanks to Tommaso Giacomel, Italy also won precious metal for the first time at these World Championships.

Single Mixed Relay

Everything remained roughly the same in the single mixed relay in Lenzerheide: The best atmosphere, a thrilling competition, lots of sunshine, France on top of the podium and Switzerland just off it. Amy Baserga and Niklas Hartweg put on a great performance for the Swiss biathlon team, but ultimately fell a few seconds short of their first World Championship medal.

Women Relay

A clear-cut affair - if the final athlete can enjoy the joy of victory with the spectators on the last lap, this is evidence of a big lead. This was the case in the women's relay with the French. It was possible to high-five with some of the 17,000 biathlon fans in Lenzerheide (record!). The atmosphere in the Roland Arena was once again excellent.

Men Relay

The men's race was also a clear-cut affair and Johannes Thingnes Boe was able to celebrate the last lap as the final skier for the Norwegians. He even managed to stop for a photo on the way. France and Germany finished in second and third place.

Women Mass Start

Elvira Öberg at the summit - the Swede has won the final women's competition. In the mass start over 12.5 kilometers, the 25-year-old was able to decisively distance herself from the competition with a flawless standing start. Silver went to Oceane Michelon from France and bronze to Maren Kirkeeide from Norway. Local athlete Aita Gasparin also put in a strong performance. With just two misses, the 31-year-old finished in 11th place.

Men Mass Start

Norwegian total triumph at the end - in front of around 13,500 enthusiastic fans, the Norwegians flexed their muscles on the final day of the World Championships. With Endre Strømsheim, Sturla Holm Lægreid and record world champion Johannes Thingnes Bø, the podium was firmly in Norwegian hands. It was Strømsheim's first ever individual title. The Swiss were unable to compete for the medals. Niklas Hartweg was the best Swiss athlete in 17th place and France won the medal table with a total of 13 medals.
